According to 9To5Google, Google's new project is underway that aims to bring glanceable desktop widgets to Chrome OS. This would behave and feel like a bigger version of the Pixel's At A Glance widget. With Chrome OS, glanceable widgets will be placed in grids, with each widget acting like a tile in the grid.
At this moment, a clock and a weather tile are the only two examples of this new glanceable Chrome OS widget. The weather tile, in particular, shows the weather information shown in Chrome OS's screensaver. All this information was spotted with the new code change that was posted this week.
It brings the concept of glanceable widgets to Chrome OS, and it could soon come to Samsung's Galaxy Chromebook devices. The good thing is that there is an early prototype available that gives us a peek at what we can expect from Google's new project for Chrome OS laptops and tablets.
Unfortunately, the report indicates that the new design draft is private. So, there is no sign of what the broader outcome of this new project would be.
