Samsung dazzles racing car fans with its Neo QLED-based simulator

F1 fans are waiting for the Canadian GP to kick off on Sunday, and whether by coincidence or not, Samsung Canada has just unveiled its new one-of-a-kind racing simulator based on its Neo QLED 8K TVs.

Samsung Canada teamed up with race car driver Daniel Morad to learn the ins and outs of racing on the track and in virtual environments. Setting up a racing sim the right way can make a big difference to the user experience, so having direct input from an actual race car driver can go a long way to achieving a realistic setup.

The Korean tech giant also partnered with digital motorsport retailer Advanced SimRacing to create the spectacular 3-monitor (or rather 3-TV) racing sim setup you can see in the image gallery and video below. Evidently, Samsung didn't create every piece of hardware required for the simulator. Elements like the steering wheel base are borrowed from other manufacturers.

However, Samsung's gorgeous Neo QLED 8K TVs are the key component that brings the racing sim package together to deliver an immersive experience.

Likewise, Samsung didn't develop the software. But by the looks of it, the company has paired its sim rig with Assetto Corsa Competizione — the official GT World Challenge videogame. The latter is one of the most popular sim racing titles and arguably the most realistic GT2 and GT3 racing sim on the market.

Samsung's Neo QLED 8K TVs have a gray-to-gray response time of only 1ms in game mode, which means they won't lag behind the action.

Samsung is demonstrating its advanced racing simulator at its Experience Store in Toronto starting June 17th. Visitors can come in and experience this highly immersive piece of technology powered by Neo QLED TVs, but unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a price tag on it.

Nevertheless, with enough resources, space, and dedication, anyone could buy this gear piece by piece and have a similar Neo QLED TV-based racing sim setup at home.

Samsung brings TVs and quality entertainment to EV charging stations

One of the downsides of electric vehicles is that they, too, need refueling, but drivers can't just dump a bunch of fuel in the tank at a gas station and be on their way in a couple of minutes. It takes time for an EV to recharge its batteries. And even though EV manufacturers have […]
