Samsung Electronics has signed a multi-year deal with the American professional baseball team, the New York Mets. Samsung will be responsible for bringing the team's vision of a “one-of-a-kind ballpark” to life by completely transforming the Citi Field stadium's display, digital signage systems, and broadcasting systems.

This partnership fuels one of the largest single projects in all professional sports, though it is not the only one. Last year, Samsung also fitted the world's largest-in-sports LED videoboard at the SoFi stadium. Similarly, the new project with the New York Mets will have Samsung install more than 1,300 LCD screens and 4,000 square feet of direct-view LED screens in public spaces.

Twice as many slow-motion replay systems

The multi-year project is expected to kick off in 2022. New York Mets fans who will attend future baseball games at Citi Field will get information about the game on a fully upgraded LED scoreboard capable of rendering 4K video.

Samsung will also install a ballpark-wide IPTV system through this new joint project. The system will carry nearly 100 channels of sports and entertainment.

Last but not least, spectators will benefit from twice the number of slow-motion replay systems and three times as many cameras, all working together to deliver better game coverage for sports fans who are watching from home.

“Our partnership with Samsung is a significant investment from our owner Steve Cohen to bring the most state-of-the-art technology to the ballpark and provide our fans an even better experience at Citi Field,” said Mets Chief Technology Officer Mark Brubaker.
