Samsung has been consistently improving SmartThings, its smart home platform. Last year, the company announced SmartThings Find and brought Google Nest integration. Six months ago, the SmartThings app received a significant UI design overhaul. Samsung has released a new app update to change the Automations feature.

The latest version of the SmartThings app (1.7.73.22) for Android renames the Automations feature to Routines, and this terminology is more in line with what other smart home platforms use. Users can get started with recommended Routines through the Discover tab. The company has also added legacy SmartApps through the ‘Add Routines' menu. The new version of the app also lets you add Routines directly via the Device Details screen.

The new version of the app is now available via the Google Play Store, but you can also get the update from Samsung's Galaxy Store app.

SmartThings is among the world's biggest smart home platforms. It allows you to add SmartThings-compatible smart home devices (smart lights, fans, ACs, security cameras, sensors, washing machines, refrigerators, and a lot more) so that they can be remotely controlled and automated. The SmartThings app is available for Android, iOS, Tizen smartwatches, Wear OS 3 smartwatches, Windows computers, and even Tizen smart TVs.

Do you use SmartThings or rival smart home services like Alexa, Google Home, or HomeKit? Let us know in the comments section below.
