If you held onto your Galaxy Z Flip 4 until now and skipped the Galaxy Z Flip 5, you might consider upgrading to the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 later this year. The 6-series foldable phone is not yet official, but a few leaks and rumors about potential improvements exist. Can it be a worthy upgrade?

We believe there might be a handful of reasons why the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could convince you it's time to ditch the Galaxy Z Flip 4 later this year and finally embrace the bigger cover screen design. Here are only a few of those potential worthwhile upgrades based on leaks, rumors, and educated guesses.

    Significant battery life gains

The main reason for an upgrade might be a larger dual battery setup, which could alleviate any concerns you might have about the effects of the larger 3.4-inch cover screen on battery life.

Indeed, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 might have a 3.4-inch external display, just like the Z Flip 5, but the dual battery could have a combined capacity of 4,000mAh instead of 3,700mAh.

You might also want to finally make the leap from UFS 3.1 storage to UFS 4.0. Even if you're not interested in the performance gains — as UFS 4.0 is roughly twice as fast as UFS 3.1 — you might want to benefit from the newer storage standard's power efficiency.

UFS 4.0 needs approximately 46% less power than UFS 3.1, leading to further battery life gains.

There's no concrete information about the Galaxy Z Flip 6 storage options, but the Z Flip 5 starts at 256GB UFS 4.0, and it's likely that the sequel will, too.

A better camera, a brighter screen, and Galaxy AI

If you skipped the Galaxy Z Flip 5 because it didn't bring any significant camera improvements over your Galaxy Z Flip 4, the story might be totally difference once the upcoming Flip 6 hits the scene.

One of the first rumors concerning the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 claims that the phone might get a serious camera improvement consisting of a 50MP primary shooter. It might even be comparable to the S24's 50MP primary unit.

It's also logical to assume that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will boast a brighter foldable screen than your Z Flip 4. At least as bright as the Flip 5's (1750 nits) or, maybe, even the S24's (2600 nits) — although nothing is confirmed yet.

And finally, if you want to use Galaxy AI features, they won't be coming to your Galaxy Z Flip 4. Not now, and not ever. Samsung confirmed it won't bring Galaxy AI to phones older than 2023.

However, it's safe to assume that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will boast the same AI features as the S24 series and maybe even something extra.

In any case, you still have plenty of time to prepare for a potential upgrade later this year if you plan on moving up from the Galaxy Z Flip 4. As we exclusively reported, Samsung intends to host its next Unpacked event and announce the Z Flip 6 in early July.
