Galaxy S23 FE March security update out for the Exynos model

Just a day after releasing the March 2024 security update for the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S23 FE in the USA, Samsung has expanded the availability of the update to the model powered by the company's in-house Exynos chip.

Before you get excited, no, this update does not include a newer version of One UI. Samsung seems determined to take as much time as possible to start rolling out the One UI 6.1 update to eligible devices, which is why its 2023 flagships, the first in line for One UI 6.1, have been getting a simple security update over the last few days.

Sporting the firmware version S711BXXS2BXBF, the update has been released in Europe, and it likely won't be long before other regions join the ranks. It is bundled with the March 2024 security patch, which fixes nine vulnerabilities in Samsung's software and a few dozen vulnerabilities that affect all Android devices.

The latest update can be downloaded over the air from the phone's Settings » Software update menu by tapping the Download and install option. The device can also be upgraded to the latest software using the firmware files available in the SamMobile archive and a Windows PC.

Since Samsung is targeting a March release for One UI 6.1, some Galaxy S23 FE owners may get the latest security fixes directly with the One UI 6.1 update. The same may apply to some owners of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
