Samsung officially announced the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 at the start of the week. The new mid-range phones are already available for purchase in some countries and will go up for sale in many more countries over the coming weeks. For Indian customers, Samsung will start selling the A35 and A55 on March 14, and local pricing for the two phones is expected to be revealed on the same day.

If a new rumor is to be believed, the official prices for the A35 and A55 in India could be shockingly high, at least for the top Galaxy A55 variant that has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The 12GB+256GB Galaxy A55 might cost INR 45,999, which is almost as high as what consumers had to pay for Samsung's Galaxy S Fan Edition models before the Galaxy S23 FE.

The 8GB+256GB A55 might be priced at INR 42,999; there is no word on whether the 8GB+128GB variant will be available in the country. For the Galaxy A35, the 8GB+128GB configuration's price is rumored to be INR 30,999, which would be the same as the Galaxy A34's launch price.

Now, while the prices for the Galaxy A55 may seem a bit high, they're not entirely without merit. The Galaxy A55 brings substantial upgrades in design and processing power. It has a metal frame and Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back, and under the hood, it is powered by the Exynos 1480, Samsung's first Exynos chip with an AMD-powered GPU for mid-range devices.

The A55's 12GB of RAM is another first for a mid-range Samsung phone. It also comes with improved cameras and camera features, including support for 12-bit Super HDR Video for a wider dynamic range, similar to the Galaxy S24 lineup.

For early buyers, Samsung India will also offer some discounts to sweeten the deal. If you pre-reserve either phone before March 14, Samsung will throw in an additional INR 1000 worth of benefits, though the company has yet to reveal what those benefits will be.
