Galaxy S24+ users, don’t forget to switch to QHD+ resolution

Samsung hasn't used a QHD+ display for Galaxy S Plus flagships since the Galaxy S20+. The latest Galaxy S24+ brings back a higher resolution, among other display improvements, including a 1-120Hz refresh rate and 2,600 nits of brightness.

As usual, however, the QHD+ resolution isn't enabled by default. The Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra have a default resolution of FHD+, and users have to change the screen's settings manually if they want the crispest image possible.

If you've upgraded from a previous Ultra model to the Galaxy S24 Ultra and imported your settings, you may not need to go through these steps. But if you bought the Galaxy S24+, the phone most likely runs on FHD+ resolution by default, regardless of whether or not you've imported your settings.

Change Galaxy S24+ resolution to QHD+

Thankfully, you can change the display resolution on your Galaxy S24+ in just a few easy steps.

All you need to do is open the Settings app on the phone, access “Display,” tap “Screen resolution,” select the “QHD+ 3120 x 1440” option, and tap “Apply.”

Take note of the fact that the higher QHD+ resolution might impact battery life. Whether you're using the Galaxy S24+ or Galaxy S24 Ultra, the higher pixel count technically requires more processing power, which can lead to faster battery drain.

In day-to-day use, the difference in battery life from FHD+ to QHD+ resolution could be negligible, depending on how you use your phone. But if you want to squeeze every bit of battery life from your device, QHD+ might not be worth it for you.

You can always revert to FHD+ resolution or even try the lowest option, HD+. You'll sacrifice image quality, but you might gain some battery autonomy.
