Back in October 2022, Samsung announced the Privileged Health SDK program, which would allow leaders in the medical industry to leverage real-time data from Galaxy smartwatches to design preventative healthcare solutions.

This week, in a press release on the Samsung Newsroom, the company has detailed some of those solutions and how data from the Galaxy Watch's BioActive sensor enables medical teams to remotely monitor and care for their patients.

For instance, the Biofourmis platform monitors and predicts hyperkalemia in chronic kidney disease patients by using biometric feedback collected from the Galaxy Watch, while AI-powered medical services can use the watch's ECG functionality to detect arrhythmias and provide “smarter predictions and prompt alerts”.

The AI-powered women's health and fertility platform Oova, which provides features such as at-home hormone tests that don't require drawing blood and menstrual cycle tracking, integrates biometric info from the Galaxy Watch and data on hormonal changes to allow for better “guidance through unique cycles, including perimenopause, and enables precise prediction of a woman’s fertile windows”.

Samsung partner XRHealth, a virtual clinic that provides physical and mental health therapy in a virtual reality environment, takes real-time heart rate information from the watch during various exercises, while Healium, a bio-feedback virtual reality platform, uses that heart rate data to help users see their stress levels visually through colorful animations and stories.

Samsung is also partnering with 3Boon1, a Korean company that sells smart mattresses that come equipped with various sensors for automatic regulation of the bed's temperature. These mattresses combine skin temperature and heart rate measurements from the Galaxy Watch to detect the different stages of sleep and modify temperature accordingly to keep the user comfortable.

Availabililty of these healthcare solutions varies by market, as not all of these partner programs are offered worldwide and some of the more advanced Galaxy smartwatch features like ECG still don't work everywhere.
