Apple and Samsung are expected to engage in a competition across a brand-new segment next year. Both companies have been working on mixed reality headsets, and Apple might be the first to release its Vision Pro headset announced earlier this year. A rumor not long ago claimed that Apple may have had to push back the release of the Vision Pro, however, some people might get to see the XR headset in action in January.

Initial reports suggested that Apple will release the Vision Pro headset in January 2024. The release may have been pushed back to March, and a new rumor from Korea says Samsung's rival may have delayed its launch plans by a couple of months to address quality concerns.

Apple to start XR training in January

Even though Apple might bring the Vision Pro to the market later than initially expected, some employees will supposedly get to experience the Vision Pro early.

According to recent reports, Apple will invite some employees from each Apple Store branch to its headquarters in California in mid-January. These lucky few will experience the Vision Pro next month and receive training on how to use, present, and sell it come March.

Upon release, the Apple Vision Pro headset is expected to cost $3,499. It's the first headset with an OLEDoS (OLED on Silicon) screen. The panel was supplied by Sony, but Samsung Display is working on its own OLEDoS solution and wants to become a main supplier.

As for Samsung's own XR headset, some rumors claim that the device will be unveiled later in 2024, possibly during the 2nd big Unpacked event of the year around August.
