While Chinese smartphone brands are equipping their flagship devices with groundbreaking hardware technologies, Samsung has been slower in adopting newer hardware. The South Korean firm is said to be focusing on using AI to bring several new features to the Galaxy S24, including improved low-light photography and better 200MP shots. A new leak also claims that it will bring several Pixel-like AI features to Galaxy S24 series smartphones, including the ability to erase unwanted things from videos.

Galaxy S24 could feature AI video processing, erase selected things from video

According to tipster @BennettBuhner, One UI 6.1 will bring several AI-powered features to the Galaxy S24. While some of them will also be released to previous-generation Galaxy phones, some will be reserved for the Galaxy S24. The first feature is AI processing for videos. Similar to Google's Video Boost feature for Pixel 9 smartphones, One UI 6.1 will use AI to process videos shot using the Galaxy S24 to improve low-light performance, reduce noise, help with better exposure, and offer better stability to the video. Moreover, the phone will be able to remove selected objects from video.

Select phones running One UI 6.1 may be able to expand existing photos. For example, when you edit an image to correct its angle without cropping in, the blank space will be filled with content that matches existing details. This feature was leaked in an earlier report.

This story continues after our One UI 6.0 features walkthrough video.

One UI 6.1 to bring AI chatbot, suggested actions after voice calls

One UI 6.1 reportedly brings an AI-powered chatbot that can answer questions and solve math problems. However, the tipster isn't sure if this feature is available at launch; it may launch a few weeks after the launch of the Galaxy S24. The phone can monitor your call and take all the important information from the voice call to offer suggestions, such as adding tasks to the to-do list, making a calendar entry, and adding important notes. The Galaxy S24 could also offer live language translation during voice calls, reducing the barrier between languages and accents.

Similarly, AI can be used to convert chunks of text (handwritten or typed) into a shorter summary in Samsung Notes with proper formatting.

The tipster has also corroborated some other AI-powered features that were leaked earlier. Those include an AI-powered wallpaper generator, which is reportedly borrowed from Google's Pixel lineup and made to work for One UI. Users may also be able to add portrait and weather effects to their home screen and lock screen wallpapers. Samsung will also reportedly use AI deep learning to offer enhanced battery protection based on a user's smartphone usage patterns.
