Apple is working on six new iPad models. It includes two variants of the next-generation iPad Air, which will have different screen sizes. It will be the first time that Apple will launch the iPad Air in more than one display size. Unfortunately, there was no information from any reliable source about the sizes of these screens. That’s changing today.
A new report from Mark Gurman on Bloomberg (via MacRumors and The Verge) sheds light on the specifications of the display of the 6th-generation iPad Air. Plus, the analyst has revealed a revised timeline for the launch of the two upcoming iPad Air models, and the two upcoming iPad Pro models which will reportedly have OLED displays.
Mark says that Apple will launch the 6th-generation iPad Air in 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch display sizes. For your reference, the iPad Air model that’s currently on sale is available in a single display size, which measures 10.9 inches diagonally. The analyst claims that the displays on the two upcoming iPad Air models will use LCD technology, the same as the current model. The upcoming iPad Pro models, on the other hand, will feature 11-inch and 13-inch displays, and these screens will use OLED technology.
As for the launch timeline, previous reports had suggested that Apple will launch the two iPad Air models in Q1 2024 and the two iPad Pro models in Q2 2024. However, Mark says that the tech giant will launch all four models in “early 2024.” That means the company could launch all four models at a single event.
Along with the new iPad models, Apple is also planning to launch a new Apple Pencil and a new Magic Keyboard. The upcoming Apple Pencil will be the third generation of the standard model. Currently, there’s no information about the improvements it will offer but we are assuming that it will feature a USB Type-C port. As for the upcoming Magic Keyboard, it is said to feature a sturdier frame which will be made out of aluminum.
