Samsung has been using in-house Exynos chips for most of its mid-range smartphones for years, including the Galaxy A50, Galaxy A53, and the Galaxy A54. But, given the negative impressions around Exynos chips, would it return to Qualcomm chips for its future mid-range phones? Well, it doesn't look like that will happen, at least with the Galaxy A55.

Galaxy A55 is being tested with Exynos 1480 processor

The Galaxy A55, expected to launch early next year, will feature the Exynos 1480 processor. GalaxyClub has found evidence of Samsung testing the Galaxy A55 with the processor carrying the codename S5E8845. If you remember, the S5E8825 was the Exynos 1280, while the S5E8835 was the Exynos 1380. So, it is logical for Samsung to name the S5E8845 the Exynos 1480. The report also reveals that the Exynso 1480 is internally called Rose.

It is also reported that the Galaxy A55 will feature a 50MP primary rear camera, similar to the Galaxy A54. Details about the secondary rear camera and the front-facing camera are currently missing. It would be great if Samsung upgraded to a 10MP front-facing camera for the Galaxy A55 like it is for the Galaxy S23 FE.

Looking at Samsung's recent track record, we can also expect the Galaxy A55 to feature a 120Hz Super AMOLED screen, stereo speakers, an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, and Gorilla Glass on the front and the rear. We hope the company keeps the microSD card slot on the Galaxy A55.
