One UI 6.0 concept claims to have fixed Samsung’s Android skin

Although we've yet to see what One UI 6.0 looks like, Samsung is working around the clock to bring the Android 14-based update to some of its devices before the end of the year. The update should bring some UI refinements, but how exactly the user experience will change remains to be seen.

As we wait for more news on One UI 6.0, concept creator @concept_central, who we presume is a Galaxy phone user disgruntled with Samsung's proprietary UI, decided to reimagine One UI 6.0 to their liking. In their own words, “I hate One UI. So I fixed it.”

The concept creator says they spent one month creating the 3D render below. The high quality of the 3D animation speaks for itself, but are these fresh One UI ideas any good?

One UI 6.0 concept: Minimal but effective changes?

If you watched the video above, needless to say, you may have noticed that it doesn't reimagine One UI completely. Instead, the concept touches on and tries to improve a few key elements of One UI. It might be a proof of concept that sets the tone for more changes we can only imagine.

As for the things we can see in the video, the fan-made One UI 6.0 concept brings opacity to lock screen notifications, slightly recolored Samsung icons, a nice makeover to the music player lock screen widget, and a few neat-looking changes to the quick toggle area.

So far, so good, but we can't help but wonder if some changes might be unnecessary/impractical or if they exist for other reasons beyond improving One UI.

For example, it's hard to tell if the concept creator oversized the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth quick toggles for practical purposes. Or whether these toggles got reshaped to make room for the cleverly placed “Subscribe” and “Drop a like” messages. Extra style points for the level of editing demonstrated, but not necessarily a victory in redesigning One UI?

Whether or not this concept “fixes” whatever may or may not be wrong with One UI is debatable, but the beautiful 3D animation present some neat ideas, the greatest of which might be the added opacity to lock screen notifications.

We're unsure if Samsung‘s official design intersects with these renders in any way, but we should find out more as soon as the first One UI 6.0 beta goes live.
