Galaxy S23 update brings feature to transfer video calls to tablet

Samsung has started rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy S23 series that brings a feature that offers flexibility with video calls. It lets users transfer video calls from the Galaxy S23 series to a compatible nearby Galaxy tablet. The update is rolling out in China, according to tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce).

The new software update to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra released in China comes with firmware version S91x0ZCU1AWD3. The 362.12MB update is still based on One UI 5.1 and features the old February 2023 security patch. However, it brings a feature that lets users stream a video call from the Galaxy S23 to a Galaxy Tab (signed in to the same account and on the same Wi-Fi network) device for a larger picture.

This feature only works when both the Galaxy S23 and the paired Galaxy Tab series device feature video call switching. Samsung hasn't specified it yet, but the video call switching could be limited to native video calls and not through VoIP apps like WhatsApp or Google Meet.

The video call switching may or may not expand to the Galaxy S23 beyond China. Samsung is expected to bring more camera-centric optimizations, including fixes to HDR blooming issues, to the Galaxy S23 series with a second May 2023 update or the June 2023 update.
