Two weeks ago, Samsung started rolling out the April 2023 security update to the LTE variants of Galaxy S20 series devices. Later, the update was released to the 5G variants of the smartphones in various regions. The April 2023 security update has now landed in the US, starting with the unlocked Galaxy S20 units.

The latest software update for the unlocked Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with firmware version G98xU1UES4HWCB in the US. The update is available on almost all carrier networks, including AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, Comcast, Cricket, C-Spire, DISH, Metro PCS, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile. You can install the new update on your phone by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually if you have a Windows PC.

The April 2023 security patch brings fixes for over 60 security flaws found in Galaxy smartphones. It might also bring some improvements to the Camera and Gallery apps. As usual, we can expect Samsung to include general bug fixes and improve the phone's stability.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 series in early 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The devices received the Android 11 update in late 2020 and the Android 12 update in late 2021. A few months ago, the phones received the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update.
