    Samsung’s improved 5nm process could benefit Galaxy Watch 6, Pixel Fold

    The Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro feature Google’s Tensor G2 SoC, which is fabricated by Samsung on its 5nm process. The Pixel Fold is also expected to feature the same chipset. However, a new rumor suggests that the Tensor G2 in the Pixel Fold will perform much better than the Tensor G2 in the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro, and that’s because Samsung has allegedly made a big improvement to its 5nm chip manufacturing process.

    The latest information was published by tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) on Twitter. According to their new tweet, Samsung has made a “big improvement” to the company’s 5nm semiconductor fabrication process. The leak does not mention the exact changes made to the manufacturing process, but in reply to one of the comments, the tipster says, “Nodes themselves are becoming better.

    Galaxy Watch 6 could feature Exynos W920 but with speed improvements

    Although the latest improvement should benefit all the chipsets manufactured on the 5nm fabrication process, the tipster confirms that it will benefit the Tensor G2 as well as the Exynos W920. The latter powers the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 5. According to the tipster, the Exynos W920 will also make its way into the Galaxy Watch 6. However, a recent report suggested that Samsung is working on a faster chip for the Galaxy Watch 6. Maybe it's the same W920 SoC with improvements from the enhanced fabrication process.

    This report from @Tech_Reve seems to be corroborated by a separate report from DigiTimes. Still, the information should be taken with a pinch of salt until things become official. However, the news doesn’t seem too far-fetched. Samsung’s 5nm fabrication process is considered to be inferior and/or less efficient compared to TSMC’s 5nm fabrication process, and that’s one of the reasons why the Tensor G2 and previous Exynos chipsets have overheating issues.

    Hopefully, the latest improvement to the manufacturing process will put an end to all those problems. If this information is correct, the Galaxy Watch 6 series could have longer battery life than its predecessor.
