Samsung has announced the launch of the Samsung Health Stack (version 1.0) at the world's largest healthcare technology exhibition, the HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition 2023. This five-day exhibition is being held in Chicago, USA, from April 17 to April 21.

This event is hosted by HMISS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society), and this year, 30,000+ people from more than 1,000 companies from across the globe participated. Samsung is one of the participating companies, and this year it debuted its healthcare open-source project, the Samsung Health Stack.

As noted in the official blog, the Samsung Health Stack is an all-in-one open-source project that allows researchers to easily create apps for digital health research and development. The software stack, which includes an app SDK, backend servers, and a web portal, allows researchers and developers to create a complete system for health research through Android and Wear OS operating systems. Samsung Electronics will launch the Samsung Health Stack officially in June 2023. However, users can experience the mobile apps and R&D tools using the Samsung Health Stack available at the Samsung Electronics' exhibition booth.

The Samsung Health Stack beta version was launched in March to test its completeness

Any healthcare company that uses wearable devices for healthcare research can use the Samsung Health Stack. They can use this project as a base for the development of healthcare-related solutions. Healthcare companies can take advantage of the Samsung Health Stack and the SDK (Software Development Kit) and customize them according to their healthcare-related apps or solutions. The Health Stack provides end-to-end support and controls the process right from data collection to analysis. The data is stored and managed in the R&D process with high security.

Lee Yoon-soo, head of the Data Intelligence Team at Samsung Research, who was also in charge of developing the Samsung Health Stack, said, “We will expand collaboration using the Samsung Health Stack in the future, contributing to the expansion of the global digital health ecosystem.
