Galaxy S23 FE could feature Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and sensible price tag

The Galaxy S21 FE wasn't a success compared to the Galaxy S20 FE. You could blame the awkward launch of the device for its poor performance and a higher price tag. Well, this could be the reason why Samsung didn't launch the Galaxy S22 FE. However, there is an interesting rumor surrounding the Galaxy S23 FE.

According to tipster Connor (@OreXda), the Galaxy S23 FE could come equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. This chipset was launched in May 2022 and comes with much better thermal performance and battery management compared to the problematic Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 that was used in the Galaxy S22 series in some countries.

Galaxy S23 FE could use Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 to keep prices competitive

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is mass-produced using TSMC's 4nm process. This is the same technology used to produce the highly successful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The switch from Samsung to TSMC has helped Qualcomm bring better upgrades in terms of both performance and power efficiency to its silicon. This could very well be suitable for the Galaxy S23 FE, provided that Samsung has any plans to launch the smartphone.

Moreover, this could also bring a positive sales outcome as people are well aware of the improvements of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Apparently, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 beats Apple's A15 Bionic in gaming tests, so the results speak for themselves.

Not using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor will help Samsung keep the price of the Galaxy S23 FE competitive, which is the main aim of the phone. Also, Samsung cannot use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor in a Fan Edition phone as it would undercut the sales of the flagship Galaxy S23 series. Keeping in mind all these points, it would make sense if Samsung debuts a Galaxy S23 FE with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
