For more than three years, Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip smartphones had no rivals. Although Huawei launched some flip phones with foldable screens, they were limited to China and a few other markets. But that's changing today. OPPO has launched its first flip phone, the Find N2 Flip, in the UK and is undercutting the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

The OPPO Find N2 Flip is priced at £849 in the UK for the 256GB model and will be available starting March 2, 2023. That's £110 cheaper than the 256GB Galaxy Z Flip 4. It comes in just two colors, though: Astral Black and Moonlit Purple. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has four standard colors, and if you buy the BESPOKE Edition, you can choose from 75 color combinations. OPPO's flip phone will also be launched in Italy, France, and Spain.

OPPO Find N2 Flip is better specs and a bigger cover display but lacks water resistance

The Find N2 Flip has better specifications than the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in some areas while being cheaper. It has a 6.8-inch foldable OLED inner screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. On the outside, the Find N2 Flip has a much bigger cover display, measuring 3.26 inches, than the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (1.9 inches), offering more things to interact with.

It uses a metal frame and Gorilla Glass 5 protection for the body, while the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a metal frame and Gorilla Glass Victus+. The Find N2 Flip also lacks an IP rating for water resistance, something that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has. Other features, including 5G, side-mounted fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port, remain the same on both phones.

The Find N2 Flip uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ processor, 8GB RAM, and 256GB internal storage. The Find N2 Flip has a much bigger battery (4,300mAh, almost as big as Galaxy Z Fold 4) than the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (3,700mAh), but it doesn't last as long as the numbers might indicate, at least going by GSMArena's review. It has 44W fast charging, but it still takes about an hour for a full charge, which is only slightly faster than Galaxy Z Flip 4's 25W fast charging. The Find N2 Flip lacks wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

Coming to the cameras, the Find N2 Flip has a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 32MP selfie camera. The Z Flip 4 has a 12MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP selfie camera. OPPO's flip phone can record 4K 30fps videos using the primary camera and 1080p videos using the ultrawide and selfie cameras. The Z Flip 4 can record 4K 60fps videos using its rear cameras and 4K 30fps videos using the selfie camera.

OPPO is also promising four years of major Android OS updates and five years of security updates, matching Samsung's software update commitment. From early reviews, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 still holds its own, owing to its more well-rounded performance and features. It offers better durability, raw performance, and cameras.
