Samsung is bringing another content provider to its TV app store in Europe in partnership with SkyShowtime, intending to reach 90 million households across 20 European markets. The SkyShowtime app is now available in a handful of markets in Europe and will launch in a couple more later this month.

SkyShowtime is an app that can be downloaded via the Samsung TV app store. In other words, it's not a part of Samsung's ad-supported free streaming service, TV Plus. It follows a subscription model with a monthly fee of $5-to-$6, depending on the market.

Subscribing to SkyShowtime gives Samsung TV users in Europe access to series and films from studios including Showtime, Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures, Paramount+, Nickelodeon, DreamWorks Animations, Peackock, and Sky Studios.

As of February 14, the SkyShowtime streaming platform is available on Samsung smart TVs in the following European countries:

    • Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Sweden.

Additionally, Samsung will release the SkyShowtime app on its TV app store in Andorra and Spain starting February 28. The app is compatible with Samsung smart TVs manufactured in 2017 and later, including TVs from the Neo QLED, OLED, and QLED series, as well as lifestyle The Frame TVs and projectors such as The Freestyle and The Premiere.

Samsung announced its 2023 TV range at CES 2023, featuring new QD-OLED models, a 140-inch MicroLED, and a new revision of The Freestyle projector, which now supports the company's gaming streaming service, Gaming Hub.
