A few days ago, Samsung announced two mid-range phones, the Galaxy A37 and the Galaxy A57. However, the company may not be done yet. It is reportedly preparing to launch another mid-range device, the Galaxy A27, which could bring some camera upgrades.
According to a report from GalaxyClub, Samsung is upgrading the front-facing camera on the Galaxy A27 to a 12MP sensor. While this is slightly lower in resolution than the 13MP selfie camera on the Galaxy A26, the newer sensor is expected to be larger, which should result in better image and video quality. It would also bring the Galaxy A27 in line with the Galaxy A37, Galaxy A57, and even the Galaxy S26 series in terms of selfie camera specifications.
The upgraded front camera could also enable 4K 30fps video recording, a significant improvement over the Galaxy A26’s Full HD (1080p) 30fps capability.
On the rear, the phone is expected to feature a 50MP primary camera with 4K 30fps video recording, along with an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera.
Recent reports suggest that the Galaxy A27 will use the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, which was used in the Galaxy A36. This 4nm chip includes four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8GHz. It should offer better performance than the 5nm Exynos 1280 chip used in the Galaxy A26, though it will likely fall slightly short of the Exynos 1480 found in the Galaxy A37.
Based on the Galaxy A26’s specifications, the Galaxy A27 is expected to feature a 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W fast wired charging. It will likely run One UI 8.5 (based on Android 16) and get six major Android OS upgrades and security patches for up to six years.
It remains to be seen whether Samsung will introduce additional upgrades, such as a punch-hole display or an in-display fingerprint reader, with the Galaxy A27.
