Google has steadily improved integration across Android and ChromeOS. You can already cast video calls from one device to another and share your phone’s internet connection with another phone or tablet via a Wi-Fi hotspot without entering a password. These features work as long as both devices are signed in to the same Google account.
A report from Android Authority reveals that Google is now working on a feature that would allow Do Not Disturb (DND) mode to sync across all Android-based devices. References to this functionality were discovered in version 26.02.31 of Google Play Services, indicating that development is in progress.
The feature is expected to appear in the Settings app's Cross-Device Services section in Android 17. Once enabled, it could automatically sync Do Not Disturb mode across all Android, ChromeOS, and Wear OS devices signed in with the same Google account, offering a more consistent experience with notifications.
Do Not Disturb mode syncing already works between a Galaxy phone and a Galaxy Watch. However, with Android 17 and One UI 9.0, Samsung could expand this capability further by allowing DND syncing across Galaxy phones, tablets, and Chromebooks.
Google is also reportedly working on a Universal Clipboard, which was leaked earlier. It can synchronize clipboard contents across Android devices. This feature could appear in the Handoff section of the Settings app.
Both these features are expected to debut with Android 17 in the first half of this year. Samsung could implement them in One UI 9.0. Samsung should try to integrate this feature into Galaxy Book laptops, which run Windows. The company has already integrated instant Wi-Fi Hotspot sharing into Galaxy Books via Link To Windows.
One UI 9.0 will likely debut in the second half of the year. It will first appear on the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8. Existing devices could get the update before the end of this year.
