“Samsung will pave the way for 5G to unlock the full potential of India together with industry leaders,” said president and head of networks business at Samsung Youngky Kim. VIP dignitaries from the Indian government and industry leaders are in attendance.

The company is planning to conduct India's first large-scale 5G trial in the first quarter of 2019. It will be done in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications.

Kim pointed out during his keynote that Samsung has successfully built the world's largest greenfield 4G LTE network nationwide in partnership with Reliance Jio. The term greenfield refers to work on a project in which there has been no prior development. He added that by Diwali, Samsung's 4G LTE solutions will reach 99 percent of the Indian population. That's almost 1.3 billion people.

The company is showcasing a few of its 5G solutions at the event. They include 5G home broadband services, Smart Agriculture and Smart Cities. Its 5G Skyship, developed in partnership with Korea Telecom, will be flying over the venue to demonstrate first response use cases.
