Sprint Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge receive the Oreo update

It took Samsung some time to get the Oreo update out for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge. After some issues post-launch, the company has now been rolling out the firmware update across the globe and it’s gradually making its way to more users. While some have complained about the way all of this played out, it’s important to look at Samsung’s update policy in context.

The Sprint Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge Oreo update is out today. Those who own these handsets on Sprint should soon receive an OTA update notification on their handsets.

Sprint Galaxy S7 Oreo update

Sprint is the third major carrier in the United States to release Oreo for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge so far. AT&T was the first to roll out the update on its network followed by Verizon. T-Mobile is the only carrier which hasn’t released Oreo for the Galaxy S7 so far but it may not be long before Magenta does that as well.

The Sprint Galaxy S7 Oreo update is out now. The carrier is rolling out firmware version G930PVPU6CRE7 and G935PVPU6CRE7 for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge respectively. It brings all of the features that are part and parcel of Android 8.0 Oreo as well as Samsung Experience 9.0 which includes some user interface improvements as well.

Sprint subscribers who haven’t received the update notification on their handsets should sit tight as it’s only a matter of time now before it pops up. The update will weigh in at over 1.3GB which isn’t surprising given that it’s a major Android platform update.

In Romania the S7 Oreo runs great (no lag, no battery drain). Try to clear cache and if it will not work make a hard reset (complete wipe / factory settings). Mine was eating battery like a champion, but after factory reset everything is normal.

Even active S7 is receiving Oreo update. Still no update in China. There was S7 beta program started from 31May… till now no words on the Oreo update for China…. and China used to be among those to receive the update first. Really hurts. Samsung update program is trash. Other smaller Chinese brands in comparison to Samsung are better at updates.

Sammobile says Samsung is not that bad of rolling out updates but the darn Active is getting the rollout even before T-Mobile rolls out and even unlocked ones. All the talk about Oreo is very old news, and I do not even have it yet. I could die tomorrow without even knowing it, and still have not received it. This is how much Samsung and the world cares. Wow, the Active gets it, and oh every carrier besides T-Mobile. T-Mobile blames and says it is Samsung holding it up, but T-Mobile is still in testing phase. Samsung can’t push what… Read more »

Sadly, my ZTO G930F got no Oreo. Such a shame that a carrier branded, Snapdragon version got Oreo before my unlocked Exynos model

No the Snapdragon unlocked phones have not received it yet. I don’t have it, and read the other comments that say they don’t have it either.

So weird that the Snapdragon carrier models get updated before the unbranded Snapdragon ones. Makes sense to you? For me, it simply doesn’t

Me too, and it is last of the whole s7 variants. Tired of the damn waiting. To the point I downloaded the s8 touchwiz version for Nougat, and then installed one of the icon packs from theme store, disabling the trial to look like Oreo until I actually get it, while it looks as if we are never going to receive it for the unlocked phones.
