Verizon's update for its carrier-locked variant includes changes to the Live Focus interface in the camera. After the update is installed, the Live Focus ready notification will be shown with a bright yellow background, so it's easier to know once the camera is ready to take a Live Focus photo. The update also adds “+” and “-” icons to the background blur adjustment slider so users can tap on them to increase or reduce the level of background blur in Live Focus mode in incremental steps.
It's unclear if these camera app changes are included in the update for unlocked models or in the update for international variants. We can't say until one of our Note 8 units gets the update, which could take a while judging by the pace of software updates for Samsung's costliest flagship. If you're using an unlocked Galaxy Note 8 in the US or elsewhere and have received this update, feel free to let us know by leaving a comment.
To get the latest update on your Galaxy Note 8, go to the Settings » Software update menu and tap on Download updates manually. You can also download the firmware for your respective carrier from our database and use a PC for getting on the latest build.
