Galaxy Note 5 now receiving November security update

Another day, another security update. Samsung has today started rolling out this month’s maintenance release for the Galaxy Note 5 in Taiwan, following its arrival on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in the Netherlands on Thursday.

For those who missed its announcement, the November security update bundles patches for 61 vulnerabilities in the open-source Android operating system and six for the firm’s own modified software, as well as a fix for the KRACK Wi-Fi exploit.

Here’s how to check to see if the update’s ready for your Galaxy Note 5

To check to see if the OTA is ready for your Galaxy Note 5, open Settings, select Software Update, then tap Download Updates Manually—or if you’d rather flash the update onto your handset, you can fetch the firmware from our database.

Lol. Nothing for unlocked Note 8. Samsung defies logic in software development and support. Flagships get the worst support.

Nice to see. Still waiting for my Exynos Note 8 though. Maybe we will go straight to Oreo! 🙂 Though I think we will probably get a combined update including November. My wifes S7 Edge just got the October patch.

I wonder why Samsung haven’t released a security update since the launch for the UK unlocked note 8. Mine is still on August

I wrote to Samsung Support. The answer was every operating environment is different, your software is stable and blah blah blah.

In short we most likely won’t get any updates in 2017.
