AT&T releases major security update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge
AT&T has released an update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in the United States. The upgrade, which weighs in at 135MB, transports all of the security patches included in both September and October’s release, as well as some preventative measures to protect the handset from the BlueBorne exploit.
BlueBorne, for those unaware, is a vulnerability that allows remote hackers to gain complete control of a Bluetooth-enabled computer, smartphone and tablet, even when it’s not set in a discoverable mode—so needless to say if it wasn’t dealt with appropriately, the repercussions would have be catastrophic.
How do I check to see if the update is ready for my Galaxy S7?
To check to see if the release is ready for your Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge, open Settings, select Software Update, then tap Download Updates Manually. If you don’t, however, feel like taking the manual approach, you can always wait until you receive an alert instructing you to install the release.Join the Discussion
