Galaxy A3 (2016) October security patch rolling out now

Last updated: October 26th, 2017 at 07:21 UTC+01:00

The Galaxy A3 (2016) has now joined the list of devices that have received the October security patch. The Galaxy A5 (2016) and (2017) were the first handsets to receive the patch after it was detailed earlier this month. Samsung is now finally rolling out the Galaxy A3 (2016) October security patch now.

The handset will be bumped up from the August security patch. That’s because Samsung was too busy patching the Blueborne vulnerability so September’s patch just got lost in the way. Devices that have recently received this patch include the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S6 edge.

The October security patch brings patches for 215 vulnerabilities that were found in the Android operating system. It also brings fixes for the six vulnerabilities that were discovered in Samsung’s software.

The Galaxy A3 (2016) October security patch will be gradually rolled out so it may be a while before all users get the update notification in their region. At least users now know that the update is on its way.
