Galaxy Note 9 features like the S Pen will be improved, says Samsung

Samsung’s fans and critics were very interested to find out how the company planned on bouncing back from the Galaxy Note 7 recall. It did so in spectacular fashion with the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note 8. It obviously won’t be stopping here. Samsung has said that Galaxy Note 9 features like the S Pen will be improved.

This was revealed by BJ Kang and Cue Kim of Samsung’s Global Product Planning Group for mobile in an interview. They also revealed that the product planning process for the Galaxy Note 8 was far more intense than ever before. The company extended the assessment period to ensure maximum safety.

Galaxy Note 9 Features

Kim said that for the Galaxy Note 8, Samsung focused on improving the camera, the S Pen and the large display. That’s because Samsung’s research going back to the first Galaxy Note indicates that these are the features that users love the most.

Kang added that Samsung’s top priority is to address the needs of the consumer. It observes consumer needs closely and then considers whether the new technology is capable of meeting those needs.

He also said that usually when one Note project ends, the team takes a small break before it starts working on the next device. This time, Samsung is not taking any breaks even though the Galaxy Note 8 product planning process was very challenging. Samsung is already considering how to approach the development of its next Note flagship.

It’s also looking for ways to improve Galaxy Note 9 features like the S Pen. The new Galaxy Note isn’t due until the fall next year so the team has a lot of time on its hands to come up with something great.

I wish they would improve (cough) the IR blaster. It’s a feature I use almost as often as the S-pen. The difference is that when I use the S-pen it is seldom my only option, I could usually manage without. But when I use the IR blaster it is my only option, like when I am using a meeting room where the previous occupant walked off with the projector remote.

the IR was my worst ever experience with Samsung device. The app was make my device (S5) lag as hell and the battery going down and all these until uninstall it. IR bluster is like the antenna of the radio!

Uh? Maybe you installed a dodgy app. The IR blaster does not tax the CPU or the battery. It is no different than a TV remote control, and they last years on a couple of AA batteries. So if your app was eating your battery and causing lag then it was doing something else – nothing to do with the IR blaster function.

S-Pen was the same as Note 7. Both are great. Other than adding a little weight and possible use of a real ink tip (for paper), I”m not sure how else you would improve it.

Why not reduce the price a little and also add stereo speakers as well as improve the front and rear camera when it comes to mp’s as well

I’ll second the price reduction. But to be honest, I’m not bothered about stereo speakers. Can you even discern a stereo image from such narrowly separated speakers? If I just want to listen to it the present arrangement is fine. If I want audiophile I’ll use headphones etc. And if I want the cost reduced I have to give something!

When u are travelling, 1.u can’t carry a portable speaker and ,2.when u have more than 2 people and no earphones or even if u have ear phones it’s of no use as each of them have to be able to hear it but with earphones at max only 2 can hear it but wont really enjoy the sound that much and it’s good while playing games as well when u are on the go and u don’t have earphones with u

I see your point. But even so, do you get any sense of stereo separation at all from two speakers scarcely 5 inches apart, especially at a listening distance mandated by an audience greater than one? If not then one speaker does the job just as well – just make it a decent one.

A single louder speaker is better.

Next improvement with the pen is to make it feel more than just a small cheap piece of plastic. Give it a bit more weight Samsung! The pen feels so cheap compared to the phone itself..
