Samsung is the largest smartphone brand in India, and it is now eyeing even higher market share in the country. As per the latest numbers from IDC, the South Korean smartphone brand captured 24 percent market share in India during Q2 2017, with Xiaomi closing in with a market share of 17 percent.

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Note 8 in India. The company is bundling a convertible fast wireless charger with the phone, similar to what it did with the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ earlier this year. It has also reduced the price of the Galaxy S8 duo in India by INR 4,000 (about $62). The company has also come up with various cashback and discount offers to increase the sales of its phones during the festive shopping period.

Speaking to the media, Mohammad Asim Warsi, senior VP, marketing, Samsung Electronics, said, “The country is the world’s second largest smartphone market where we have sustained our position as the number one mobile brand. We expect to further consolidate our presence with innovative products and services.

Samsung is also offering customers a one-time screen replacement for just INR 990 (about $15) for those who buy its smartphones during the festive sale. The company is also giving away a Galaxy S8+ for free with its QLED TVs in the country. The Galaxy S7, which was launched last year, is now available through Flipkart for just INR 29,990 (about $466).
