Galaxy Note 8 to come preloaded with Hancom Office S

Samsung usually bundles additional third-party apps on its smartphones, including office suites. The Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ came with Microsoft Office pre-installed. Now, it is being reported that the recently launched Galaxy Note 8 will come with Hancom Office S pre-installed in the US.

Hancom Inc., a South Korean software developer, announced this earlier today. It also said that its document editing app can now only open and edit PDF files, but also Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. The app also works on the Galaxy S8 and the S8+, which was released earlier this year across the globe. The company said that it will get better global exposure with this deal.

Earlier this year, Hancom had also optimised its document viewing and editing app for Dex, Samsung’s smartphone docking solution that turns it into a desktop PC-like experience. Daou Office, yet another office suite provider based out of Korea, had optimised its app for Samsung Dex.

I can confirm that Hancom Office is on Note8 for Turkey. However I’ll be uninstalling it as soon as I have my Note8 and using Microsoft Office. Hancom has been on Samsung tablets here for quite a long time but can be uninstalled totally.

Asif I think you have a typo in the text. Second paragraph: “..said that its document editing app can now only open and edit PDF files, but also Microsoft Excel…” don’t you mean “.. editing app can NOT only open…”?

More crappy bloatware that can’t be uninstalled. Clearly Samsung isn’t making enough money from selling $1000 phones.

You can uninstall virtually all apps from the device. Only ones developed my Samsung cannot be uninstalled. Even stuff like Music, Video and S Note (on non note devices) are not installed on the device on boot.
and apps you do not want at all can be disabled, I’ve never used Skype and never will, but constantly find it on every smartphone I see. Yet whatsapp needs to be installed manually.

You can uninstall virtually all apps except those you can’t uninstall… like Facebook for example. Again, more $$$$ for Samsung.

because over a billion people have Facebook! of course its going to be installed. its like not having the Dialler, because everyone uses text, whatsapp or facetime. I very rarely make phone calls, doesn’t make the dialler pointless. just don’t use it.

I’ve had Hancom Office pre-installed on every Samsung phone I’ve purchased for the past few years. You’d think they’d have developed the app better after all these years but it remains a disappointing and difficult to use app.
