This could be our first true look at the Galaxy S8’s design

Following a few case renders of the Galaxy S8 from various case makers, renders that seemed to be based on rumors, we could finally have the first believable Galaxy S8 cases listed online. Mobile Fun has listed the Olixar Ultra-Thin Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge Case for the device, and we think the images of the case could be based on the actual Galaxy S8 (or at least based on a very close version of the final design).

Of course, there is no way to confirm this, but should the Galaxy S8 turn out like this, the phone could be a visual treat. We just hope Samsung has built in proper palm rejection into the display, as the device would otherwise be an ergonomic nightmare in everyday usage. The lack of an iris scanner is suspicious, but it’s possible it could be the sensor right next to the camera (on the Note 7, the iris scanner was on the left side of the camera). Oh, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack seems to be missing as well.

It’s highly probable that this is another case (no pun intended) of an accessory maker joining in on the fun in an attempt to get more exposure. At the very least, the case pictured could be close to the real deal, but not 100 percent accurate. There is no way to be sure, and we will just to keep hoping that something concrete comes up in the near future.

What do you guys make of the newest Galaxy S8 case renders?

Highly unlikely. Samsung has always designed everything (i.e. the buttons) to be easily reachable when you hold it in 1 hand in the way you’re supposed to use it. For example, the volume buttons, the on/off buttons…

The person who faked this design doesn’t understand industrial design. How hard is it to hold a phone and do your blood/pulse measurements with this placement?

Samsung… Don’t do that.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will have a 3.5 headphone jack they didn’t get rid of headphone jack… I’m glad for that cause that means Samsung Galaxy Note 8 should have a 3.5mm headphone jack I hope…

I personally checked out when they said no 3.5 jack. Hence no FM tuner or use of my current daily driver headphones.

This one has to be fake. Look at the positioning of the flash and heart rate monitor. Who is going to reach their finger all the way up there to check their heart rate? Also it would look abominable in my opinion if they lit it right there, and Samsung is all for aesthetics.

It’s fake because there is no iris scanner!

I think this is fake. 1) The curve is very similar to the GS7 Edge. Samsung has been reducing the degree of the curve with each iteration. I believe it will be more in line with the Note7’s, or even less subtle. 2) The angle of the curve doesn’t line up front to back. If you look at the front, you would think there won’t be much space for the bottom curve to look the way it does in the render, it’s almost identical, doesn’t make sense. 3) Some of these renders show the charging point not centered. I don’t… Read more »

I guess I won’t be upgrading. Have a S6 edge and I love the design. I rather have the physical home button etc than such slim bezels. It also just looks weird to me

bad design

The flash/sensor is too near the edge, it looks bad and isn’t practical from an internal viewpoint. ıt won’t fit. also it’s ergonomically unworkable. hold your S7 Edge as you normally would and try to reach the heart rate monitor with your finger.

It’s impossible.. It doesn’t look like there is a stereo speaker. I hope these renders are fake. No IRIS scanner, no True Tone Flash. Camera looks same. This can’t be real. But I have to say it looks good from the front.

S8 model, cool. Where is the S8 Plus renders?

I this is a bad design from an ergonomic viewpoint, one of the things i do not like about Edge (my old S6 and now S7) is using them without a case always results in inadvertent touches on the edges as you struggle to grip it.

My solution was to use the Samsung edge clear cover.

This design just makes that worse, also why have a sexy sleek phone that always slips out of your hand or can get damaged so you put it in a bulky cover.

So you pay for a lot of protection cases, extra warranty, repairs or a new phone every 6 months to 1 year; clear as day – from commercial point of view. This goes beyond planned obsolence in its purest form (and Samsung is not the only one doing it).

I myself have an S7 edge , yet I do not experience the inadvertent touches.

I had the Note7. Absolutely no issue on inadvertent touches, even with the slimmest case I used.

A thin case will fix that . And besides Samsung sent a update on that and I have no issues
