You can find countless apps online that enable you to optimize the performance of your Android device, however, such apps have often been used in the past to spread malware and steal user information. This is why many people prefer having a stock option and Samsung almost always provides some sort of a device optimization option, we saw one in the Galaxy Note 7 as well, it was called Device Manager. The device maintenance feature accessible through the Settings app in Android 7.0 Nougat for Samsung handsets lets users easily optimize the performance of their device while the new user interface isn't too shabby as well.

The main device performance score is based on five different categories – Battery, Performance mode, Store, RAM and Device security – and all of them can be optimized using the Device maintenance feature in Nougat. Tapping on each category will bring up a set of options that allow users to take actions like configuring power saving modes, performance modes, enabling My Knox for better device security, stopping background apps to clear more RAM and deleting unused and cached files to free up internal storage.

What do you think about the Device maintenance feature, do you think it will really help you get the best performance possible out of your Samsung device? Don't forget to check out the other new features that we have already highlighted in our What's New With Nougat series.
