Samsung showcased three cutting-edge games – Need for Speed™ No Limits, Heroes of Incredible Tales, and Vainglory – based on Vulkan API at this year's E3 gameshow. You can notice improved graphics quality and performance as well as the stability of frame rates in the video that compares gaming performance of three games using Vulkan API and OpenGL side by side.
“Samsung has been a great partner for us in importing our games to Vulkan. We actually had engineers from Samsung right here in our office helping us port Vainglory to Vulkan and really squeeze out all the performance we can,” said Tommy Krul, Chief Technology Officer at Super Evil Megacorp.
Vulkan is a new cross-platform 3D graphics and compute API that reduces CPU bottlenecks, allows the use of multi-core CPUs for increased performance, and reduces stutters. Use of Vulkan to develop games results in responsive graphics and immersive gaming experience for users.
In addition to Vulkan, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge come with features such as Game Tools and Game Launcher that are quite helpful for mobile gamers. Samsung is also testing new versions of Game Launcher and Game Tools, which are expected to be released soon. The company is also testing a new app launcher based on Vulkan for smoother performance.
