Whereas the Korean giant is encouraging its employees to chase after their research dreams in a move that is nothing short of trendy for this decades-old tech giant, Samsung wants to do more: not only does it want to encourage its employees to create business startups, it wants to be a startup incubator for non-employee persons as well. To this end, Samsung has decided, in the spirit of Creative Labs, to launch a mobile startup incubation program known as Creative Square.
Creative Square is designed to help individuals who have an idea for a mobile startup to get their business off the ground with a little help from Samsung. The Korean giant wants to encourage individuals to emerge with groundbreaking ideas that will change the face of mobile both now and in the future. The benefits behind Creative Square for individuals whose mobile startup and design ideas are selected will receive 6-12 months of access to the company's Seoul R&D campus and will also be given 100 billion won ($85,000 USD) in financial support from Samsung.
The company is taking applications from June 27th through July 31st and will open its website for registration starting Monday, June 27th.
