Data from Counterpoint Research shows that Samsung accounted for 23.2% of India's smartphone market in Q3 2015, a slight decrease from 24.5% in the previous quarter. Local brand Micromax was its closest competitor as its market share rose from 16.7% in Q2 2015 to 17.7% in Q3 2015. Samsung's budget handsets like the Galaxy J series are much more popular in India as opposed to flagship handsets like the Galaxy Note 5. The company is aware of this which is why just yesterday it launched a couple of budget handsets yesterday for India, the Galaxy On5 and On7 aim to ensure that Samsung continues to be the market leader in India.
