Not really because people that go on contracts in some countries get the phone free upfront.
The people that will buy this straight out are the ones that don’t care about cost.
I am in UK and will be getting the 64gb edge

Indeed we do have the 6/10/20/30 months pay-offs along with our6 months binding subscription on our smartphones here in Denmark (think Sweden and Norway as well), but again, even with such a deal (which is without any hidden fees or rate of interest), it is STILL a HE** of alot of money, you gotta agree 🙂 But okay, it takes money, to make money, and by such, I think that Sammy indeeds knows how the world spins around, and of course uses billions on R&D, and uses the best hardware in their wonderful beasts, to make us wanna buy them,… Read more »

Oh, btw, the SGS 6 Edge 128 GB in Black goes without subscription for the amount of 1075 euros here in Denmark- The gold version easily spits another 100 euro on top of that. But creating a contract gives you a mobile discount of, typically, 161 euros for the mobile, and then you get to choose how much you minumum want to pay off over x amount of months, for instance a 10 GB data sub with 7 hours free speech to all numbers, free sms/mms will costs you roughly 35 euros pr month, then you add another 36 euros… Read more »

They may have released a better flagship this year, but with such pricing their market share will only plummet further and further.

I mean, the Edge 128GB coming in at a whopping 10.500 SEK is an I.N.S.A.N.E amount of money for a (wonderful) smartphone, and is way over half your average salary paid out after taxes. I cannot recall ever seeing such a high price for a Sammy hardware, and it really bugs me since I can’t understand how anyone would spend that amount on a phone.

The DK/SE pricetag on last years wonder was okay, but this time, oh boy….hurts to see that you perhaps won’t be able to afford it and have to go to other brands instead 🙁

The price is indeed high but it is also totally understandable. They invested heavily in the research (Samsung is nr. 1 mobile phone maker in R and D investments). Also, the materials are really pricey (compared to the iPhone that uses weak metal that bends etc.). The price of the phone is 150% of my month´s salary (Czech Republic). Our prices are also much higher than in the US. Mostly it is because in the US they practically do not charge taxes on electronics and that makes them much cheaper. I was given the Note 4 last year so I… Read more »

Hi Solun,

Ouch, I did not know that Czech had a high pricetag as well! That sounds indeed expencive, but glad you’ve got the Note 4, that’s also one hell of a beast 🙂

Cheers 🙂

I honestly don’t get it – why on earth are the Nordic (DK/SE) pricetags on every godd*** mobile so much bigger than the pricestags in US?
Anyone know why?

Deeply considering to just buy SGS 6 Edge from a US webshop instead of a Danish/Swedish shop, but then again, with custom and all, the price would then perhaps be the same as a Danish pricetag?
