Purported Galaxy S6 chassis leaks hint at sealed polymer battery

Fresh reports out of Samsung’s home country of Korea point at a design that’s going to be very close to that of the most recent iPhone, i.e., the iPhone 6. We’ve previously seen a few Galaxy S6 leaks in the form of a chassis design and some design renders, however, none have been as comprehensive as this one. From what we can tell, sources seem quite confident about this being the real thing. With Samsung’s reinvented design language from the Galaxy A series, one would anyway have expected a design with more metal than usual. What we’ve also just learnt is that the phone will probably even pack a sealed aka non-removable battery; Samsung phones have been known to give the user the freedom of swapping batteries, and that’s something which might eventually change with the Galaxy S6. Time will tell whether it’ll be for good or otherwise.

“The Galaxy S6 will make its debut in two versions ― flat and rounded screens. It will have a metal build, which will make it look even more like Apple’s latest models,” adds a parts supplier according to sources. Well, lets hope Jony Ive isn’t reading this!

I’m hoping this isn’t the design for the S6, the design screams iphone too much (Odd when you consider when the ip6 was leaked we screamed it looks like a S5+M8 hybrid.) I had hoped Samsung would not go for rounded edges as pretty much every ip6 owner seem to complain it makes the phone difficult to grip thus leading to more drop.

This could be the leak for the next A series phone…I guess we’ll find out in a few weeks time.

As long as the S6 brings excellent battery life than the non-removable battery won’t matter. I used to have a S4 and yes i was happy that i could just swap out the battery because it wouldn’t last me a full day. I never thought i would get used to non-removable battery phones until i got the Oneplus One which has excellent battery , got through an entire day and still have 30 to 40% left when going to bed . So yea as long as the S6 offers good battery life that won’t even matter

The day Samsung stop allowing removable batteries is the day I stop buying their products. I’ll stick with my Note 4 and find a new manufacturer instead. It’s not worth staying with Samsung because the removable batteries are the only thing keeping my buying their products. Their software is awful. I like their ideas though, just not their software. Hopefully one day I will work for Samsung as a Software Engineer once I finish my degree and change the way they operate and design their software.

I had Galaxy S3, my wife have a Galaxy S4 i9506 and I have the Galaxy S5. In don’t like what Samsung is doing. Today, I love how my wife’s phone looks as design and even I love TouchWiz on her phone. Despite the fact that I didn’t liked that much the new version on the S5, yesterday with the upgrade to Loliopop, really made me hate all of this. I’m considering reverting the phone to KitKat and never upgrade until Samsung or Google decide to make a black-background colored theme for Lolipop. I never liked how stock Android looks… Read more »

Have no idea why you’re ranting about this. When Android is the only mobile OS that gives you full access to a myriad of customizability functions and tons of free and pay for Apps in Play Store. That includes the ability of switching to all kinds of themes numbering in the 1000’s. So many combinations w/ or w/o rounded icons, black or white whatever, etc. I’m running a lollipop Touchwiz mod on my phone and it doesn’t look anything like vanilla Android you get straight from Google. It’s more versatile and has Samsung awesome extra features. REMEMBER LOllipop is running… Read more »

Other than maybe AMOLED displays, removable batteries and microSD cards are the main reason people buy Samsung phones.

If Samsung seals up the back, they open the door for LG, Nexus, Motorola, HTC and other Android phones to take away more market share.

Also, many people might dump Android altogether and make the jump to Apple.

Say it ain’t so, Samsung.

this is fake. look at the bottom, thats a lighting slot not a micro usb slot. whoever beleives that is an idiot

Ever heard about the reversible USB 3.1 type C connector? It looks practically the same as a lightning connector.
You might wanna do some research in the future before you start calling some people idiots… 😉

Well… Maybe the bottom is like this because of the new touch-based fingerprint sensor. It looks like S6 is gonna be a blend of Alpha/iPhone 6/LG G3. I can imagine a power button at the center of this chassis.

It looks exactly like a normal microUSB 2.0 slot. I’m not sure what you’re seeing but I advise zooming in.

Let me get this straight. Samsung’s idea of redesigning the Galaxy S line is to do away with removable batteries and make it look more like an iPhone? Goodbye Samsung. If that’s the case, you are the new Nokia/Blackberry. Idiots.

So you think that removable batteries are such a big deal? They aren’t. Ive got 2 spare batteries for my S4 and a charging kit, and I never use them for the simple reason that the S4 charges 0 to 100 in an hour using a 2A/6 volt charger. Fast charging is the future n not removable batteries. The Oppo find 7 charges 75% in 30 minutes, something we can expect in the S6 too

This design is an improvement over plastic and also over the galaxy Alpha in terms of comfort.
