Verizon Galaxy S4 KitKat update could start rolling out on May 2nd

Verizon could soon stop dawdling and release the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy S4, Samsung’s yesteryear flagship. A leaked document obtained by GSMArena indicates that the update will start rolling out on May 2nd. That’s more than 2 months late compared to carriers like AT&T and Sprint, and is quite surprising considering Verizon was the first carrier to release Android 4.3 for the Galaxy S4. That was sadly a one-time fluke, though it’s good to see the wait could soon be over for Verizon consumers.

As always, we’ll be sure to let you know when the update officially rolls out. When it does, expect to see changes such as faster performance, white status bar icons, a camera shortcut on the lockscreen, new camera modes, option to select default messaging and launcher apps, and more.

I own the Samsung Galaxy S4 (with 4G CAT 4) and got the update a short time after deployment commenced. I have not noticed any problems with the update itself being installed on my phone but I am curious to know when Samsung will release the Android 4.4 kitkat update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-i9506)?
please give me some info on this…

Seems Samsung needs to improve their update time. Actually i have a i9190 which is s4mini, almost latest device from samsung, but no updates for more than 1 year. Still on 4.2.2 for 1 year!!! Thats terrible. Samsung must improve their update policy. Lets say 1-2 official updates. For the phone cycle. Else, i will have to move to another manufacturer that offers at least 2 updates of firmware.

Blame the carriers unless you are using an international phone in which case it is Samsung’s fault for not releasing it sooner.
