Well, it seems like Samsung is addressing one of the biggest issues with the Galaxy Gear, at least in India. The Korean manufacturer has given its smartwatch a price cut of around Rs. 7,000 (~ $120) in the country on its official website, and according to DailyTech, the discounted price could go into effect worldwide. The U.S. price is expected to go down to $210-220 in the coming weeks, though the price reduction isn't confirmed for non-Indian markets yet. However, given the fact the Gear was priced at almost $355 (Rs. 22,900) in India when it launched, the price cut, even if exclusive to India, should certainly court more consumers into adopting Samsung's first attempt at a smartwatch.

The price cut comes at an unsurprising time – Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Gear 2 sometime in February or March, so it's natural that the company has decided to reduce the price of the current generation of the product. Of course, the previous limitation of limited device compatibility still stands (the Galaxy Gear is only compatible with the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy NotePRO 12.2, and the three Galaxy TabPRO tablets, and requires Android 4.3 and above,) but for those that have been holding out on buying the smartwatch due to its high price, well, now might be the right time to order one.
