Galaxy Z Tri-Fold is great, but this is the ultimate Samsung foldable

Right now, the Fold 7 is the best foldable Samsung has ever made.

I’ll start by saying this: Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold is great. It’s impressive, it feels futuristic, and it does some genuinely cool things. Browsing in tablet mode is excellent, watching shows is immersive, and using three apps at the same time is pretty dope.

But after using it and then switching back, I realized something very quickly: the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the device I actually want to use every day.

The first thing I notice with the Fold 7 is how light it feels. It’s also incredibly thin, and that makes a huge difference in daily use. The phone feels great in the hand, and the folding mechanism still feels special in a way few devices do. Every time I pick it up, it just feels right.

With the TriFold, I don’t get that same feeling. While I enjoy the larger screen in certain situations, I find the extra weight and thickness make it less comfortable overall. It shines when I’m watching content or browsing like I would on a tablet, but I don’t do that often enough for it to feel like a true game-changer for me.

I think the TriFold could have been exactly that if it were even slimmer, or if Samsung had gone with a rollable display instead. As it is, it feels more like a glimpse at what’s possible than the final answer.

Don’t get me wrong. I still think Samsung deserves a lot of praise for the TriFold. But for me, the real star is still the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It’s light, thin, refined, and incredibly well-balanced. Switching back to it didn’t feel like a step back at all. If anything, it felt great.

Right now, the Fold 7 is the best foldable Samsung has ever made. It may not lead on specs, but when it comes to design, it’s the very definition of peak.
