Roomba is a popular robot vacuum cleaner brand, especially in the US. While its robot vacuums were compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri, they were incompatible with Samsung's SmartThings smart home platform. Now, some Roomba robot vacuum cleaners have received support for Matter, which means you can add them to SmartThings.

The Roomba Max 700 Combo, Roomba Max 700 Vac, and the Roomba Plus 500 Combo have recently received a firmware update that adds support for the Matter smart home standard. After installing the update, you can add those robot vacuum cleaners to Samsung's SmartThings app on Android and iOS via the iRobot Home app. The Roomba Combo 10 Max already had support for Matter during its launch.

You need a Matter Hub (a compatible Samsung TV, SmartThings Station, or a third-party Matter Hub) in your home for it to work.

Matter 1.2 brought support for robot vacuum cleaners. It supported all the basic functions like cleaning modes, error alerts, remote start and stop, and status reporting. With Matter 1.4, Matter received support for room-specific cleaning commands. SmartThings added support for Matter 1.4 in April 2025.

Recently, SmartThings became the first smart home platform in the world to add support for Matter 1.5, which adds enhanced support for cameras, closures (blinds, curtains, garage doors, and windows), energy management, and soil sensors.
