Google’s Gemini is one of the most popular GenAI-powered chatbots out there. The brand has baked it into most of the Google services that we use daily, making it very useful. Well, what if it starts showing you advertisements?
On Monday, AdWeek published a report claiming that Google is planning to bring advertisements to Gemini. According to the publication, Google told at least two advertising clients that it plans to bring ads to the AI chatbot in 2026.
In response to the report, Google’s Vice President for Global Ads, Dan Taylor, made a post on X clarifying that, currently, the brand has no plans to bring apps to the Gemini app. Furthermore, he said that the story is based on “uninformed, anonymous sources who are making inaccurate claims.”
What’s interesting here is that Dan used the word “current” in his post, which doesn’t completely rule out the possibility that Google could bring ads to the Gemini app in the future. That being said, Google’s statement clarifies that we won’t see ads in the Gemini app anytime soon.
On a related note, Google has already introduced ads in its AI experiences. Take Search’s AI Mode, for example. It shows sponsored results alongside the AI-generated answers.
