The Galaxy S21 FE was very well received when it first came out four years ago. It followed up on the spectacular hit that had been its predecessor, which marked the revival of Samsung's Fan Edition lineup.
Samsung has launched a new Fan Edition phone every year since then and the company continues to find a market for it. While some of you may still be rocking the Galaxy S21 FE and the device would be working well, it's time now to make an upgrade.
The Galaxy S21 FE only just started receiving the Android 16 One UI 8.0 update. For those who've been keeping tabs, this is the last and final major firmware upgrade for the device. Samsung had only promised to provide four major upgrades to this device and it has held up its end of the bargain.
Samsung's seven year upgrade promise is a fairly recent one so many of these old devices aren't covered. It's easy for there to be a misunderstanding regarding software support but there's no denying the fact that this device won't get any major updates anymore.
This means that you will not get any of the new features, including some of Samsung's best AI features.
The best course of action now is to upgrade to one of Samsung's more recent devices. There's the latest Galaxy S25 FE if you'd like to stick with the lineup, any number of mid-range phones from the Galaxy A series, or even Samsung's top-notch foldables.
The entire lineup is your oyster, just make sure you check trade-in offers on Samsung.com when upgrading so that you can get top dollar for trading in your Galaxy S21 FE.
