Upon announcing the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro at Unpacked 2026, Samsung shared not only a handful of technical details but also a few fun facts about its earbuds and their users.

For starters, Samsung says it ran roughly 10,000 simulations to achieve a comfortable fit for the Buds 4 series. Ear shapes don’t change every year, so why does every new Buds generation seem to require thousands of data points and fresh simulations instead of using data from previous tests?

We're not sure, but it could be that design improvements are iterative, and new Buds designs require additional testing to ensure the best fit possible. Either way, Samsung ran thousands of tests again. And that's not all.

How many Galaxy Buds users are there?

Samsung didn’t share an exact number of Buds users worldwide. However, it claims that 58% of all Galaxy phone users rely on Galaxy Buds daily.

In other words, Buds are nearly everywhere, considering the millions of Galaxy phones Samsung sells each year.

The number of Galaxy Buds in use could grow even higher now that more Galaxy phones — including budget models — have ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack, contributing further to the widespread adoption.

While developing the Galaxy Buds 4 series, Samsung tried to identify the main reason people upgrade their headphones. Such knowledge could lead to a better Buds design, drive higher sales, and keep customers happy.

The conclusion is refreshingly simple. Yes, Galaxy Buds are packed with clever features, and the Buds 4 can even recognize head gestures.

But according to Samsung, the biggest motivator for buying new earbuds is sound quality. Extra features are welcome, but at the end of the day, audio performance matters most.

This may explain why Samsung dropped Blade Lights from the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro and doubled down on sound and quality-of-life features.

And in a recent statement to SamMobile, Samsung did confirm that it also took other usability factors into consideration.

We considered various factors and found that with our insights, features like a re-designed reassessed touch area on the blades with premium, real brushed metal were a priority for our consumers.

At Unpacked, Samsung said the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro feature 20% larger speakers, which should deliver a fuller, richer sound with stronger bass and clearer high-frequency tones.

So, even though we were a little disappointed to see the Blade Lights gone after just one generation, we can't help but appreciate the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro's other qualities.

As we found out prior to our review, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are indeed comfortable to wear and deliver incredible sound.
