Google introduced a Calling Card feature for Android phones last year. It works much in the same way as a similar feature does on iOS, enabling you to customize how incoming calls from your contacts appear on the screen.

This feature had a big limitation from day one. You could customize how others people's Calling Cards looked like on your phone, but you couldn't customize how your card would look on someone else's phone. This limitation might be on its way out.

Add a splash of color to your personal Calling Card

The folks at Android Authority have been able to access the “My calling card” feature in the latest beta of the Phone by Google app. This feature will enable you to customize your Calling Card through the Settings menu of the Phone by Google app.

You'll be able to pick a photo from your phone's gallery or Google Photos, change the font and color, and then choose who can see it. Google does let you decide if the Calling Card will only be visible to your contacts to everyone you call. The saved Calling Card can be edited at any time.

This feature isn't live in the stable version of the app just yet, but the fact that it's been baked into the beta is evidence enough that the company intends on introducing it in the near future. It should be live for all Android devices, including those from Samsung, in the not so distant future.
