Samsung began ditching the 3.5mm headphone port on Galaxy phones back in 2018. Today, it’s almost extinct. Only four Galaxy models still have one in 2026: the new Galaxy A07 5G, A07, F07, and M07.

Those four are basically the same budget phone with minor tweaks. And yes, the only Samsung phones with a 3.5mm port in 2026 are also the cheapest. The port’s removal has come full circle. Here's why.

Many assume Samsung first cut the port on a flagship and that the trend trickled down to cheaper models. That’s partly true, but the story actually started with the Galaxy A8s in 2018. Less than a year later, the A60 and A80 followed.

The first premium phone to drop it was the Galaxy Note 10 series in late 2019. But by that time, the port was already gone from select A-series phones.

The original Fold followed the Note 10 series a month later, and the Galaxy S20 followed in early 2020.

So to recap: in early 2026, only the A07/A07 5G, M07, and F07 still have a 3.5mm port.

Pros and cons of losing the 3.5mm port

A 3.5mm port makes it easy to use a wide range of headphones, including cheap wired options. It’s also handy for niche cases, like sampling audio from your phone into a music workstation.

Sure, you could use a USB-C-to-3.5mm adapter on a modern phone, but those dongles are more cumbersome and can burden you with compatibility issues. Plus, even dongles are becoming harder to find.

On the flip side, the 3.5mm port is indeed a bulky piece of old technology for today’s ultra-thin phones. It's reliable, but it was also a bottleneck in some regards. Its removal lets Samsung pack more power into slimmer designs.

As for the advantages of wireless or USB-C headphones, they can even be improved through firmware updates — albeit this doesn't happen very often.

All in all, the era of phones equipped with 3.5mm ports is almost gone. Only a few of the cheapest Samsung phones remain.
