TCL's new art TV is what Samsung's The Frame Pro should've been

It should've had a proper Mini-LED panel with hundreds of local dimming zones, similar to TCL's A400 Pro art TV.

Earlier this year, Samsung unveiled a higher-end version of its popular The Frame TV. It is called The Frame Pro, and it features a ‘Neo QLED' display. Although it offers slightly better picture quality than the regular The Frame model, it doesn't completely justify its price and the Pro tag.

TCL has now launched its new art TV, and Samsung should look at it to know what it should do with its next The Frame Pro TV.

TCL has launched its new Nxtvision TV (A400 Pro), its new art TV, in China. It uses a Quantum Dot display with proper Mini-LED backlighting, 4K resolution, and a 144Hz variable refresh rate. The display has an anti-glare coating using the AG-25 nanocrystal material. TCL claims that this coating gives its art TV a soft-yet-detailed look of a classic oil painting. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG.

It also features ALLM, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, VRR, and HDMI 2.1 ports for a great gaming experience. It has Onkyo Hi-Fi Audio and supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio formats. It has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, and HDMI 2.1 ports. It uses a quad-core Cortex-A78 CPU, Mali-G52 MC1 GPU, 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage.

At 39.9mm, the TV is very thin, and it can be hung up on a wall with virtually no gap. Its beige and white-colored frame options make it look like a painting or artwork. It has a stand with wheels which lets you move the TV to any room. TCL has added over hundred classic and dynamic artworks to make the TV look like a painting. It is available in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, 85-inch, and 98-inch sizes.

In comparison, Samsung's The Frame Pro TV uses a Quantum Dot panel with Edge-Lit Mini-LED backlighting. Unlike other Neo QLED TVs that have full-array local dimming with hundreds of local dimming zones, The Frame Pro uses an edge-lit backlighting which offers a lot less local dimming control, so the screen isn't as bright and suffers a halo effect around bright objects.

Samsung should have used a proper Mini-LED panel with full-array local dimming for The Frame Pro. Instead, the company appears to have done some cost-cutting. And we personally think it doesn't deserve the Pro tag. Hopefully, the 2026 version of The Frame Pro brings full-array local dimming with Mini-LED backlighting for much better picture quality. Moreover, Samsung's TV has just 4GB storage, which is extremely low for such a high-end TV.

It has already been revealed that The Frame (2026) will come in a 98-inch size, so it is possible that The Frame Pro will also have a 98-inch version. We hope Samsung uses a proper Neo QLED display, more RAM and storage, and improved speakers with the 2026 version of The Frame Pro TV.
