Several reports have started appearing on cybersecurity outlets regarding alleged Samsung internal data that's being sold by a hacker on a cybercrime forum. Naturally, this might worry people since Samsung is most commonly known for the consumer products it makes, such as phones and TVs.
What a lot of people don't know is that Samsung Electronics, the company that makes these products, is just one part of a massive conglomerate that does everything from electronics to medicines, construction to military equipment. This alleged leak has nothing to do with Samsung Electronics.
HackRead reports that a hacker is selling internal data and records allegedly from a Samsung group company on a cybercrime forum. The hacker mentions that the breach was made possible through a contractor, and that allowed access to data from several affected companies, including Samsung.
The leaked data reportedly includes cloud storage data, backend database content, user records, internal logs, exported cloud directories, and more.
Samsung hasn't commented on the matter as yet. If the alleged leak is true, it does raise privacy implications for those impacted, as it includes information like names and emails linked to healthcare environments.
